EnergySage is introducing verified shopper reviews with special badges, and more precise star ratings to establish a more reliable review system.

Why Did We Make This Change?

We know that reviews matter—both to you as installers and to solar shoppers making important decisions. Recently, we've heard concerns about questionable reviews that can undermine trust in our marketplace and make it harder for quality installers like you to stand out.

How It Works

1. Introducing Verified Shopper Reviews ✓

What's changing: Reviews from actual EnergySage users will now display a "Verified Shopper" badge and will appear at the top of review listings.

Why this helps you:

  • Shoppers trust verified reviews more (research shows they're 15% more likely to select businesses with verified reviews)
  • Your legitimate customer feedback will stand out from unverified reviews
  • Creates a more level playing field where quality service—not review manipulation—wins business

2. More Accurate Star Ratings ★★★★☆

What's changing: We're eliminating rating rounding (for example, a 4.3 rating will now show as 4.3, not rounded to 4.5).

Why this helps you:

  • Shoppers find exact ratings more believable (especially since many don't trust perfect 5.0 scores)
  • Helps installers with truly excellent service stand out with more precise ratings
  • Provides shoppers with a more accurate picture of your service quality

What action do you need to take? 

These changes will take effect on 4/22/2025. You don't need to do anything, but we do recommend setting up a campaign to get as many EnergySage verified reviews as possible!
