Equipment Package Best Practices

Be intentional about choosing the most suitable option for the customer’s needs. If you're unsure, quoting any “excellent” equipment is a good starting point as it appeals to homeowners. To ensure the option is also the most available, affordable, and suitable for your market, consult with your PSM for guidance. This will help you provide informed, reliable quotes that build trust and position you for success.

Key factors to setting up your Equipment Packages

1. Informational and intentional messaging. Help homeowners understand why you recommend specific equipment. Highlight how it’s the best fit for their unique needs, considering factors like budget or system requirements.
The EnergySage Buyer’s Guide is included with each quote, and you can share additional links to help educate homeowners further.
Keep in mind that most homeowners will come to the table with minimal knowledge. They will rely on both equipment ratings and your expertise. This is a valuable opportunity to build trust and sell yourself as a knowledgeable professional.

2. Build multiple equipment packages. Before you get started quoting on EnergySage, build multiple equipment packages to showcase various equipment offerings and address common scenarios that you face (ie., one package for a ground mount, or a different one that includes a battery). Putting time into these packages upfront will enable you to knock out the quotes quickly as they come through.

How to support your equipment choices through messaging

1. Utilize the "Hardware notes (optional)" category in your packages. Here is the perfect place to include any unique selling points about the equipment, mention potential caveats, or let the homeowner know that you can accommodate other types of equipment as well. These details will help your quote stand out.

2. Use the Message Center. Create personalized messages for homeowners, explaining why you selected specific equipment in your initial quote. Be sure to highlight how the chosen equipment aligns with their needs. In these messages, ask thoughtful questions that can help you better understand their preferences, budget, and any limitations, so you can fine-tune the equipment options to best suit their situation.
This not only educates homeowners but also gives them an opportunity to engage with you in a way that feels helpful and not overly sales-driven

We recommend mentioning the following factors about your equipment:
- Warranty
- Manufacturer location
- Equipment performance and durability
- Compatibility with other equipment
- Price
