Product Update - Shopper Project Preferences Notifications
After they’ve been matched with you, shoppers often update their My Project Preferences page: they upload an electric bill, change their financing preference, or tell us they’re interested in battery storage. Now, EnergySage will notify you when a shopper on one of your quoted leads makes an important update to their preferences. Each notification shows exactly what changed, so you can quickly review your quote or reply while the shopper is most engaged.

- How to Learn More
- New system messages: When a shopper updates their preferences, a system message appears in your Message Center. If you already have a conversation with the shopper, the update appears in that thread.
- Expanded email notifications: More types of updates now trigger an email, not just a few. Emails also have clearer subject lines and link directly to your quote.
- Clear before-and-after details: Every notification shows what changed, the previous and new value, and any notes the shopper added.
Shoppers who update their preferences after signing up are some of the most engaged shoppers on the Marketplace. But when those updates go unnoticed, quotes stay based on older, estimated information, and shoppers feel like no one is paying attention.
These notifications help you spot high-intent shoppers right away and be the first installer to respond with an updated quote or a helpful message.
Which updates trigger a notification
You’ll be notified when a shopper makes any of these updates:
- Uploads a utility bill
- Changes their monthly bill amount
- Changes their financing preference
- Changes their battery storage interest
- Changes their equipment preferences
- Changes their contact preferences
- Adds notes

Good to know
- You’ll get one email per lead per day at most. If a shopper makes several updates, they’re combined.
- Quick edits are grouped. Changes a shopper makes within about an hour are combined into a single notification.
What Action Do Installers Need to Take?
No setup is needed. When you receive a notification:
- Review what changed.
- Click “Review & update quote” to adjust your quote. Where supported, this opens Quick Edit.
- Or click “Reply to [shopper]” to follow up in your message thread.
Tip: Respond quickly. Shoppers who update their preferences are your hottest leads, and the first installer to respond has the advantage.
Responding to the shoppers notes is a perfect conversation starter!

Where Will You See This Change?
- Message Center (as a system message in your existing thread with the shopper)
- Your email inbox
Who receives these notifications?
The current lead owner.
Will my quote update automatically?
No. You stay in control of your quote. Notifications let you know what changed so you can decide whether to update your quote or reach out.
Do I have to update my quote?
No, but we recommend reviewing it, especially if it was an AutoQuote. Quotes that reflect the shopper’s latest information are more likely to match what they’re looking for.
